The Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta in Bangladesh and in West Bengal is a river delta in the Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent, consisting of Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal.

 It is the world's largest delta and one of the most fertile regions in the world, thus earning the nickname The Green Delta. 

A river delta is a landform that forms from the deposition of sediment carried by a river as the flow leaves its mouth and enters slower-moving or standing water.This occurs where a river enters an ocean, sea, estuary, lake, reservoir, or (more rarely) another river that cannot transport away the supplied sediment

The delta stretches from the Hooghly River on the west to the Meghna River on the east. It is approximately 354 km across at the Bay of Bengal.

Kolkata and Haldia in India and Mongla and Chittagong in Bangladesh are the principal seaports of the delta.
